Top 30 accounting firm UHY has its first location in Ohio after merging in Cincinnati-based CPA firm Flynn & Co.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. Managing Partner Richard Flynn will bring his team to UHY and transition to the firm’s first Cincinnati office.

“Cincinnati is a thriving economic hub with a strong business community. With its diverse industries and dynamic entrepreneurial spirit, the need for comprehensive, high-quality accounting services has never been greater,” Steven McCarty, chairman and CEO of Farmington Hills, MI-based UHY, said in a statement. “This combination allows us to expand our footprint, enhance our client relationships, bring even more value to businesses in the region, and enhance our national reach. We are excited to welcome the Flynn team and their clients to UHY.”
“Rick and the entire Flynn & Co. team add distinct expertise and access to the Cincinnati market,” added Tom Callan, Great Lakes Region managing director at UHY. “Boasting near $200 billion in GDP, Cincinnati is one of the fastest-growing markets in the Great Lakes region.”
Since 1994, Flynn & Co. has offered a wide range of tax preparation services and a full line of financial accounting, reporting, and attestation services to a variety of clients, including financial institutions, manufacturing and construction companies, privately owned businesses, and not-for-profit organizations.
“From the moment we connected with UHY, it was evident that our values, culture, and client-first approach were perfectly aligned,” said Richard Flynn. “As I considered the future of our firm, I knew that joining UHY would provide our clients with greater access to national expertise while creating new opportunities for our team. This partnership will enable us to expand services, enhance resources, and continue delivering the personalized guidance our clients expect.”
This is UHY’s fourth M&A deal since getting an injection of private equity funding from Boston-based investment firm Summit Partners last December. UHY combined with St. Louis-area accounting firm Botz Deal & Co. in January and added another St. Louis-area CPA firm, Sabino & Co., in early June. The firm also added Michigan-based CPA firm Tama, Budaj & Raab earlier this year.
Nationally, UHY employs more than 2,000 professionals in 42 U.S. offices.
